Regularly I arrange exhibitions displaying some of mine and my student’s best work. We try to pick exhibition locations that add to the experience such as the terpkerk in Urmond. Twice a year we also go on “art trips” to museums throughout the country. We always end these trips with a great meal in a nice restaurant going over the beautiful and inspiring works that we saw that day. For example: we visited the exposition “Impressionism: Sensation & Inspiration” in the Hermitage in Amsterdam. I also organise special drawing events such as nude figure drawing which is always a very enjoyable experience for all that attend. Tapas in Sittard

My students proposed to go out for a nice evening with the whole group. In this case we had Tapas in Sittard. Once again we had a great evening.

Dinner in Oud Geleen

Frequently the students propose to go out for a nice evening with the whole group. In this case we had a very nice dinner in Het Kleine Verschil in Oud Geleen. It was a great evening which was made extra special because of the snowfall that surprised us all.

Exposition Mariapark Sittard

In August the school organised an exposition in the Mariapark in Sittard. Work of the teacher and of her students was on display for a full week in the lovely neogothic building in the heart of the town right across the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van het Heilig Hart basilica. The light that shined through the high stained glass windows gave extra allure to the paintings and drawings that were on display.

A fresh start of the new season

Every now and then the lessons are extra inspiring because of the cake or other treats. This time the occasion was the end of the school year which is a nice time to reflect on the lessons learned and all artistic things that lie ahead in the coming year. The final brush strokes were extra well placed partly because of the lovely taste of the apricot cake with whipped cream.

Australian Dinner

A very enjoyable evening with some of my students: Els, Truus, Myriam, Ingrid en Imke. We went to an Australian restaurant in Sittard. It is always very nice to find some time to talk outside of the classroom, especially if the conversations are accompanied with a “local” dish like kangaroo.

Four day course in drawing nudes

Each summer the school offers a four day figure drawing course, in which the students learn the basic techniques that are necessary to draw a nude figure using a professional model.

Art trip Amsterdam

On this art trip we took the train to travel to Amsterdam and visit the Hermitage. The museum was showing an exhibition about the Impressionists: “Impressionism: Sensation & Inspiration”. Because the van Gogh museum was being restored, many of his works were on display there as well. We finished the day with a nice meal in a restaurant in the the Amsterdam district of “De Jordaan”. The restaurant happened to be the birth house of Dutch Singer and Comedian Wim Sonnevelt. A very inspiring and fun day!

Exhibition student's work at Terpkerkje in Old Urmond

The art school has organized multiple exhibitions of some of the best works of the students. These exhibitions took place at the nicely situated Terpkerkje in Old Urmond. During these days friends, family and other interested people were able to take a look at the art and join the lessons that were being held in the old church’s exhibition room.
